Crochet inspired by Bowler Hat.

Here, the written pattern for this quick and easy crochet inspired by Bowler hat.

Hoping that you enjoy as I do. This project is simple but very therapeutic as you will work in Circles. Also, does not involve a lot of counting so... you can just stitch and relax :)

Circles are an Universal Symbol. They mean wholeness, unity an inclusion, the cycle of life and the seasons. Perfection. They also remind us about nurturing, eternity and timeless.

Working in rounds is calming and peaceful, I believe, because we start and end circles which are a natural geometrical forms of life itself.

STITCHES (UK terminology)

You will need to know how to start working in rounds, treble crochet, half treble, double crochet and slip stitch.

MATERIALS:

I am using a rescued acrylic, nylon and wool yarn.

A 5.5mm crochet hook

Scissors

Wool needle to wave ends.

PATTERN

We are going to work in rounds. The first chain stitches of each round are not count as a stitch. Starting with a round of 12treble crochet followed by three rounds increasing, will give us a total of 48 stitches.  Then continue for 10 more rounds with 1 treble crochet (tr) per stitch. To end we will make a round of half treble (htr) and a round of double crochet (dc). In total 16 rounds. Each round is closed with a slip stitch (slst).

Start: make a magic ring or chain circle.

1- chain 3 and work 12tr inside circle.

2- First round of increasing. Ch3 + 2tr in same stitch. Continue 2tr in each stitch all way around. Close the round with a slst in the 4^th chain from beginning. Total of 24 stitches.

3- Second round increasing. Ch3 + 2tr in same stitch. Continue (1tr in next stitch, 2tr in next) all way around. Close the round with a slst in the 4^th chain from beginning. Total of 36 stitches.

4- Third round inc. Ch3 + 2tr in same stitch. Continue (1tr in next stitch, 1tr in next, 2tr in next) all way around. Close the round with a slst in the 4^th chain from beginning. Total of 48 stitches.

5 – 14 – Ch3 + 1tr in same stitch. Continue 1tr in each stitch all way around. Close the round with a slst in the 4^th chain from beginning. Total of 48 stitches.

15- Ch2 + 1htr in same stitch. Continue 1htr in each stitch all way around. Close the round with a slst in the 3^th chain from beginning. Total of 48 stitches.

16- Ch1 + 1dc in same stitch. Continue 1dc in each stitch all way around. Close the round with a slst in the 2^th chain from beginning. Total of 48 stitches.

Fasten off and wave ends

Tear Drop Dreamcatcher Hoops

I do love making my own Hoops as they involve to get out the house and get into the woods!

I pick up branches that has fallen or they have been cut from trees but they are still green. If they are too dry the stick will snap when we bend it to create our hoop.

Then clean the leaves and parts that you won´t need and grab a bit of wire.

Now put both ends of the stick together forming a loop! And hold them with wire. That is!

Easy-peasy pet!

Foundation Chain / UK Treble Crochet / Fasten Off (Cadena de Inicio, punto alto, fin)

A FOUNDATION CHAIN is a row of chain stitches that we make to start our crochet work. It will determinate de size of our piece.

Simple make a slip knot and start chain.

To start TREBLE, chain 3, yarn over and insert the hook in the 5th chain from the hook, pull thread through the stitch, this will give you 3 loops in the hook; yarn over and pass 2 loops; yarn over and pass the last 2 loops to end the stitch. Keep going 1 treble crochet in each chain stitch of your foundation chain. You need to end with the same number of trebles as chain stitches of your foundation chain. 

To START NEW ROW, chain 3 this will count as your first treble, TURN your work, yarn over and insert the hook in the 5th chain from the hook, pull thread through the stitch, this will give you 3 loops in the hook; yarn over pass 2 loops; yarn over and pass the last 2 loops to end the stitch. Keep going 1 treble crochet in each treble form previous row... ... and keep keep going! this is the process! make it as long as you wish! Each row must have same number of stitches. 

FASTEN OFF: When you are finished, chain 1 and pull the yarn through. (you can weave the ends with a wool needle or leave it as it)

NOTE: this is how I crochet and it feels good for me. I believe it is important to do as you feel happy. The aim of my videos is not to tell you this is right or wrong, just simple be a guidance to awake your creativity.

CADENA DE INICIO: es una fila de cadenetas que hacemos al inicial un peojectona crochet. Determinará el tamaño de tu pieza. Simplemente haz un nudo deslizado y algunas puntos de cadena.

Para empezar el PUNTO ALTO, haz 3 cadenas, luego hila e inserta la aguja en la quinta cadena desde la aguja, agarra el hilo y pasalo a traves del punto, esto creara 3 bucles en la aguja. Hila y pasa dos bucles, vuelve a hilar y pasa los dos ultimos bucles para completar el punto. Continua, 1 punto alto por cada punto de la cadena de inicio. Al terminar tendrar la misma cantidad de puntos altos que cadetas de tu cadena de inicio. 

Para COMENZAR NUEVA FILA, haz 3 puntos de cadena, (sera contado como tu primer punto alto) y VOLTEA tu pieza, luego hila e inserta la aguja en la quinta cadena desde la aguja, agarra el hilo y pasalo a traves del punto, esto creara 3 bucles en la aguja. Hila y pasa dos bucles, vuelve a hilar y pasa los dos ultimos bucles para completar el punto. Continua, 1 punto alto por cada punto vareta de fila anterior. Al terminar tendrar la misma cantidad de puntos altos que la fila anterior. Yo tengo 7. Continua haciendo filas tanto como quieras, solo repite el proceso! Para TERMINAR, has una cadena al aire y tira hasta que el hilo pase. (puedes perder las puntas sobrantes con una aguja lanera o dejarlo asi)

NOTA: así es como yo lo hago y me sienta bien y sencillo. Encuentra tu forma, estos videos deben servirte como guia no para decirte esto esta bien y esto mal, simplemente mi intención es despertar tu creatividad.

CALM YOUR MIND - Observing the Neddle (English)

A POWERFUL EXERCISE 

I personally practice this when my mind does not shut up and I feel overwhelmed. It calms me down, it brings my focus back and it makes me feel grounded.

The aim in here is not crocheting a particular item, It is just to practice some stitches to calm and relax. However, I do enjoy making crazy hats!

CONCIOUS STITCHING (Exercise)

Grab your yarn and your hook, and sit down in a comfortable position. I like in my yoga mat crossed leg but you can sit in a chair or sofa, just make sure your back is straight and your shoulders relax.

Choose a stitch to work with (I do like UK treble crochet) and prepare your foundation chain. I normally chain 10 but feel free to choose your number.

Now, start your first row of stitches being fully focus in what is happening between your hands. Observing when the needle goes into the stitch, how it grabs the yarn and pulls it back through the loops going out, how your hands moves to yarn over and so on.

Repeat as many rows as you need during 5 o 10 minutes, (or as long as desired). 

To keep me focus I like to repeat this in my head:

When the needle goes into the stitch I say: "Needle goes in"

When the needle goes out of the stitch I say: "Needle goes out"

In this way I keep my mind free of any other ideas that might come in and interrupt my practice.

TO SUCCEED

This exercise is very simple, yet its effects are profound. To succeed we must put our whole attention in the needle and nowhere else. We need to be watched of distracting thoughts. If any arises we let them go. 

It is just few minutes, things will remain there and in fact, we will be able to approach them from a better perspective after our practice.

Remember, no one else can take responsibility of yourself apart from yourself.

CROCHET HACKING by Emma Friendlander - BOOK REVIEW (Spanish)

Hola! 

He comprado este libro y quisiera compartir con vosotros un poquito mi opinión.

Si os gusta el reciclaje, el upcycling y el crochet, pienso que este libro es esencial! 

A mi me ha encantado y me parece que tiene muy buen precio con toda la informacion que contiene.

Esta en inglés, ya que la autora es inglesa, y en crochet terminologia UK, pero pienso que aunque no sepais ingles se puede aprovechar muy bien.

Podéis encontrar informacion sobre la industria del textil, asi es como ella comparte contenido para crear conciencia, tiene un monton de ideas para prendas de vestir muy interesantes y fáciles de hacer, con puntos de crochet muy básicos y también podeis encontrar algo de bordado.

Además de las herramientas que usamos en crochet y costura, ella incorpora otras, como punzones y una troqueladora de cuero para poder hacer agujeros en las prendas y poder enmendar con el crochet. Eso si, son todas herramientas de muy bajo costo.

Que más decir? para mi Emma es una gran fuente de inspiración, y si estais buscando iniciaros en estas técnicas os animo a hecharle un vistazo y seguirla porque esta mujer es una Crack! Su blog se llama Steel and Stitch.

También podeis encontrar un curso de ella en Domestika y esta subtitulado al español :)

Yo ya he empezado a jugar con unas viejas cortinas que tenia en casa, a ver que sale!
